Join the Challenge: Organize to be Heard

By Jeff Mann

November 3, 2009 @ 5:14PM

Last week, Senator John Kerry told us that if we want action on climate and energy, we – the young people of America – must make our voices heard. If we act together, we can push our country to take action that will create millions of new jobs and protect the health of our planet.

That’s why we are announcing the Organize to be Heard Challenge.

Throughout the month of November, young people organizing in their schools and communities can register for the Organize to be Heard Challenge. At the end of the challenge we will bring the nation’s top climate organizers and activists to Washington DC for a day of meetings at the Capitol to let our leaders know that young people are still a political force in this country and that we demand a clean energy future.

Will you join hundreds of organizers at consequence09.org/challenge and get plugged in to stop the effects off climate change?

The election of 2008 demonstrated the organizing power of our generation when we voted in record numbers and elected President Barack Obama. Over 24 million of us hit the polls, voted early, and volunteered.

This year must not be different.

We voted for change in 2008. As Senator Kerry said on our Tuesday call, the battle for a clean energy and sustainability will not be easy. It’s critical that our elected officials must hear from us and our peers right now.

They need to know we are serious about passing a bill that will bring clean energy jobs for our generation and generations to come, reduced global warming pollution and a secure energy supply.

There are real consequences from inaction that effect our future. Our jobs, our economy and our planet are all at stake. Will you take a few minutes to help bring about real action on climate change? Sign up and start demanding action at www.consequence09.org/challenge
